         ================================
          A.F.7 Merge your files
          Version 1.0, December 17, 1999
         ================================

What is A.F.7?
---------------
A.F.7 merges several files into one single file.
The file 'help.txt' describes how to use A.F.7.

Requirements
------------
- Microsoft Windows 95 or
  Microsoft Windows 98 or
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 operating system
- Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 run-time files

License
-------
A.F.7 is freeware. Please read the file 'license.txt' for more
information about using this software.

Files in this package
---------------------
af7.exe
setup.exe
comctl32.oc_
comdlg32.oc_
readme.txt
help.txt
license.txt

Installation
------------
Navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the self-extracting
archive and double-click it. Specify a folder where you wish to
install the A.F.7 program files and click 'Start'.

In order to run A.F.7 you must have the Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0
run-time files installed on your computer. Since all programs written
with Visual Basic 5.0 require these files and they also ship with
Windows 98, it is possible that they are already installed on your
system.
Try to run A.F.7 by double-clicking its icon.
a) If you don't receive an error message, A.F.7 is ready for use.
b) If you do receive an error message complaining about a missing file
named 'msvbvm50.dll', you have to install the Microsoft
Visual Basic 5.0 run-time files. You can download them at
      http://www.fauland.de/msvbvm50.htm
or directly from the Microsoft website at
      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.asp
(perform a keyword search with the keyword "runtime").

A.F.7 installs/updates the following system files:
c:\Windows\System\comctl32.ocx
c:\Windows\System\comdlg32.ocx

The Microsoft VB Runtime Setup installs/updates the following system
files:
c:\Windows\System\msvbvm50.dll
c:\Windows\System\asycfilt.dll
c:\Windows\System\oleaut32.dll
c:\Windows\System\olepro32.dll
c:\Windows\System\stdole2.tlb
c:\Windows\System\comcat.dll

(the path of the Windows directory may be different on your system)

A.F.7 makes no changes to the Registry.
(The installation of the Microsoft VB Runtime Setup and the self-
registration of the ActiveX Controls will generate various entries in
the Registry - to many to list them here.)

Uninstallation
--------------
Delete the folder where you stored the A.F.7 program files. This will
completely remove A.F.7 from your computer.
The ActiveX Controls and the Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 run-time files
are not affected by the uninstallation of A.F.7 and can still be used
by other applications.

Troubleshooting
---------------
If you encounter problems installing A.F.7 you can perform the
required steps manually:
- Copy the files comctl32.oc_ and comdlg32.oc_ to your Windows System
  directory (e.g. c:\Windows\System).
- Rename the copied files in your Windows System directory to
  comctl32.ocx and comdlg32.ocx.
